Making Chinese Kung Fu tea can be a straightforward and enjoyable process. Here's a simplified step-by-step guide to get you started.
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
You'll need your tea pot first. so you can choose from:
A small teapot
Gaiwan
A tea tray (Optional)
Some small cups
A kettle for boiling water
Tea towel (Optional)
Step 2: Select Your Tea
Choose a high-quality loose leaf tea. If you are a beginner, we have selected teas that are most beginner-friendly. They are already bagged in a single-use size with loose tea leaves inside. Each bag can normally give you 8-15 cups of high-quality tea.
Step 3: Boil the Water
Heat your water to the right temperature: (If you are not sure... just use boiled water)
Green tea: 70-80°C (158-176°F)
Oolong tea: 85-95°C (185-203°F)
Black Tea tea: 95-100°C (203-212°F)
Step 4: Warm the Teaware
Pour hot water into the teapot and tea cups to warm them up, then discard the water.
Step 5: Rinse the Tea Leaves
Add tea leaves to the teapot. Pour in a small amount of hot water, swirl, and quickly pour it out to rinse the leaves.
Step 6: Brew the Tea
Fill the teapot with hot water and let it steep:
Green tea: 1-2 minutes (3-5 cups)
Oolong tea: 5-10 seconds (8-10 cups)
Black tea: 5-10 seconds (10-20 cups)
Step 7: Serve the Tea
Pour the tea into the cups and enjoy. You can re-steep the same leaves multiple times, adding slightly more time for each infusion.
